Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

COVID-19 Response

These are difficult and rapidly changing times and we are all doing our best to find a way through. I believe that we are stronger when we stand together and in circumstances where we feel connected and supported. It is with great sadness in my heart that I have needed to temporarily suspend hands-on appointments. As an alternative way to serve you, to connect with you and support you, I have replaced hands-on appointments with online support.

These sessions commence with a full consultation and a ‘treatment’ tailored to your needs. I am a co-active coach with a myriad of other skills gathered over the past 40 years to help you mentally, physically and emotionally through this period. Each session can easily consist of a mixture of content to provide a truly holistic approach to your care.

Physical Rehab, Self-Treatment using a ball/roller/therabands etc, Breathing Exercises, Meditation, Co-active Coaching, Counselling, Mindfulness Exercises.

What to do now

Booking is best achieved via email, phone call or text and we will have a conversation about your current needs so that we can both prepare for the session. If you are a new client, you’ll also need to complete and return a consultation form, (pre-existing clients already have notes that I can refer to). This pre-appointment check allows also me to gather a sense of what might be needed and any pre-existing problems that might influence treatment options.

The 1-hour virtual session commences with a verbal consultation, this identifies the focus of the session and your agreement. The session itself will consist of whatever guided self-care is required to support you. Relevant resources are emailed after the session closes.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I have just had an online session with Sally and would highly recommend it! I sought her help for knee pain, she was able to spot the problem and explain it to me. She led me through several exercises and a virtual self-treatment, which I didn’t know was possible but turned out to be really helpful thanks to her clear and soothing guidance. She even took the time to send me everything by email so I could keep practicing in my own time. It was almost like being in her treatment room, and by the end of the session I felt better both physically and mentally. Thank you for your help Sally, and for brightening up my day, as always!

Why not treat yourself?

I provide a range of massage and other complementary therapies that will bring you back in connection to yourself, the world and all that you love in your life. When you book a treatment with me, you are making a decision to take care of yourself and to honour your needs. You realise the importance of your body and mind and its natural well-being and recognise the desire to function at your fullest potential.

The therapies I offer may help relieve the effects of stress and other discomforts and help put you back together again. Together we can empower your body to liberate itself from the rigours of a busy life and an active lifestyle and restore your vitality.

“Sally is so good for my old bones!  I feel as if I have been ironed out mentally and physically after an appointment.  Just walking into the treatment room I find so relaxing and I leave walking six inches taller, feeling I can face the world again.

Sally has a very special gift, indeed she is a very special person, who always manages to somehow make my body feel eighteen again!  Back pain disappears, knees bend again, and I really do feel so much better.”
– June Andrews

 Why not treat someone else

Why not show how much you care by buying a gift voucher for someone special in your life. These are available for each of the therapies I offer or you can choose a specific value and allow the recipient to choose the treatment.

I am happy to discuss treatment options with you before you book or at the time of your appointment. Alternatively, you can choose from the wide range of therapies I offer.

Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

With over 25 years of experience in massage and bodywork and over 35 years of experience in health care, you can be assured that I am committed to providing you with the best experience possible. Each session you book with me is carefully tailored to your needs at that time based upon the information you provide and my own observations; as such, each treatment is truly holistic and may include a variety of different bodywork techniques to achieve the desired outcome. These may include many forms of therapeutic, remedial and deep tissue massage, mobilisations and stretches, neuromuscular techniques, myofascial release work, the use of hot and/or cold stones, healing, breath work and relaxation techniques, Rhythm Mobility®, acupressure and trigger point work, soft tissue release, MET’s etc.

In all types of massage therapy, the intention is to relax the soft tissues, increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas, warm them, and help the body to relax.

Massage may be found to bring relief from everyday aches, reduce stress, increase relaxation, address feelings of anxiety and tension, and aid general wellness. It can also be used in support of other therapies to assist in the rehabilitation of muscular injuries.

What happens during a treatment?

I usually book clients for 30 minutes to 1-hour sessions; the fee you pay is based upon the time taken for the massage itself, not the consultation time or any advice given after the treatment. We will discuss your symptoms, medical history and what you would like to gain from the treatment. The massage will be performed whilst you lie comfortably on my luxury couch, usually with oils but maybe without or through clothes at times. Depending upon time and your needs, the massage may include your whole body or be focused on chosen areas. Extended treatments can be arranged, the extra time allows for a more thorough treatment or for more combinations of therapies to be used. Communication is key and your wishes and preferences are paramount, so please let me know if you don’t like particular techniques or prefer a particular approach and always tell me during a session if you experience pain or discomfort.
